I started at Huge Brooklyn as an office admin.

I built IKEA cabinets and ping-pong tables. I set up meeting rooms and catered lunches. I had Bagel Tuesdays and free beer. Guaranteed overtime at time-and-a-half. HEALTH INSURANCE. I had not had these things at a job before. It was beautiful.

One fateful day, someone broke the espresso machine. I wrote a rather strongly-worded email containing instructions and a plea for compliance and sent it off to the entire company. That may not sound all that ballsy, but you had to be there. I figure I had even odds of being fired.

Instead, that email launched my copywriting career. People came to me to write new hire biographies and all-office emails. I joined the internal comms team, wrote social posts and the monthly calendar, and countless emails about lost keys. Nine months after joining the company, I was appointed associate copywriter and flung into a Comcast holiday campaign meeting. I’ve been making things up since then, waiting to be unmasked and returned to the kitchen. Don’t tell anyone.

Here are some of the projects I worked on at Huge.

Client: Samsung
Role: Junior Copywriter
Creative Team: Ross Maupin, John Long, Dan Morales

To help Samsung demonstrate the motion capture technology in a Smart TV, we packed an unprecedented amount of Usher into a 2:30 YouTube video, gave it an action-packed story line, and ended on a cliffhanger.

It wound up being the most viewed video in Samsung's history, and was a 2014 Webby Awards nominee.

(Huge did a case study on this video, too.)

Client: Art Director's Club - Portfolio Night 2014
Role: Copywriter, scriptwriter
Creative Director: Jon Jackson
Video Director: Perry Blackshear

Huge's ethos (and tagline) is centered around the notion of "giving a shit."  And while shit-giving can be learned, those born with the ability are a breed apart. Hence our video for Portfolio Night 12.

We also created a series of posters for the Portfolio Night promotional booklet.

Client: Honey
Role: Scriptwriter
Creative Team: Perry Blackshear

Honey started out as a HUGE Labs project. It was indented to solve the communication headaches that plague any growing agency whose employees still hit "REPLY ALL" or want to unsubscribe from the "Off Topic" email chain.

I worked with the in-house studio team to create a promo video for Honey in its infancy.

Client: Comcast
Role: Associate Copywriter
Creative Team: Most of Huge, really, but mostly Will Gabrenya and Jason Martin

Say what you will about Comcast, but they published my first poem in 2011. (Granted, it was about their annual holiday sale on bundled TV, Internet, and Phone services, so it wasn't a tough sell.)
Comcast was a retainer account at Huge, and I worked on countless projects in my first few years. Campaigns, homepage refreshes, a lengthy buy flow redesign, promotions for Mover's Edge, the X1 platform launch – and, yeah, subsequent holiday campaigns.
